A bit about...

Bocce - (or Lawn Bowling)

Bocce is an ancient game which resembles bowling.  Born in Italy, it was thought to be played during the Roman Empire .  As early as 5000 B.C., the Egyptians were throwing balls toward a target and an early form of Bocce had begun.  The game, once popular among senior citizens, is now being enjoyed by all ages.  It’s a game of skill and strategy and young people love the challenge of perfect accuracy.

Many public parks are dedicating space for Bocce courts but you can make your own.  The playing surface of packed dirt, gravel or grass must be level and is 60 feet by 8 feet.  Equipment includes a small target ball called a pallino,  and 8 larger balls or Boccia.  The game can be played in pairs or as a team competition.
